Identify direct roof permits, avoid rooftop-equipment false positives, and qualify exterior project signals.
Strong roofing signals explicitly mention roof replacement, reroofing, roof repair, membrane, or a local roof work code. “Rooftop mechanical equipment” is not automatically a roofing project, so the word roof alone is not enough.
Additions, new buildings, and exterior renovation can be adjacent opportunities. Review the stated scope and project timing before treating them as prospects. A permit issued months ago or already finaled may be too late for installation work but still useful for a maintenance relationship.
Use the source record to verify status and description. Where the public display suppresses an exact residential address, keep outreach broad and lawful rather than attempting to reverse-engineer a resident’s identity.
